Stallholders Info

Hello lovely stall holder

Thank you so much for booking your pop-up stall at the lovely little Flinders Street Market!

If you do not have your own shop or do not have much success selling online, then the market lifestyle is for you. We are a market where locals pop in for a chat, a smile, see a familiar face and treasure hunt amongst the stalls.

Keep in mind that we are a weekly market, not monthly market or a tri-annual event, so our flow of customers is much smaller than many other markets. However we have some weekly stalls that do REALLY well no matter what, because they offer their customers great value for money (BARGAINS!).

Don't forget that stalls who promote themselves well and are regularly at the market build up their own clientele, and customers return to the market when they need them.

Our CALENDAR OF SPECIAL EVENT MARKETS has been launched. Applications are open! Details of each event are at our Facebook Events Page.

If you are a new stall holder, you are welcome to add yourself to our the private stall holder discussion group on Facebook called STALL HOLDERS@Flinders Street Market. You will get important news and updates there. Lots of wonderful people to make friends with too.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Friendly people, with a community spirit and excellent products, tasty coffee or food to sell. Beginners are welcome! We are always looking for new stalls at the market with great products. If you are a budding creative entrepreneur or know one, we would love to hear from you.

What the market is like

The market is an indoor shed space with 2 types of positions available- ‘standard’ 3x3 metre and ‘mini’ 2x2 metre spaces. The shed is very rustic, so be prepared to transform your space the best you can.
We are a regular weekend market weekend rotating mix of stalls. This keep the shoppers regularly visiting. Sellers are invited to create vibrant and eclectic stalls of handmade food, drinks, produce, goods, clothes, jewellery, home wares, flowers/plants, arts, crafts, skin care, books, alternative medicine and second-hand treasures. The sky is the limit!
IF YOU HAVE BOOKED A MINI-STALL please be aware that this fits a trestle (or a clothes rack) and a chair ONLY.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING

It is anticipated that you will bring all of your own tables, table, cloth, chairs, racks, mannequins, suitcases, signage, black boards, A- frames and mirrors or whatever you need to make your stall inviting to customers. You can hire trestle tables from the market for $10 a day.
You also need to bring a float for the day, carry bags, gift wrapping, business cards, basic stationery, basic tool kit and basic first aid kit to be prepared for anything.

If you intend to bring a marquee, make it white to maximise the light coming in.

Promoting Yourself

It is vital for the success of your stall that you promote your attendance at the market. A quick tweet or Facebook message saying "I'll be at Flinders Street Market this weekend with all of my amazing goods", with a few nice photos of your products, makes all the difference.
You can find your event date listed at our Facebook Events Page.
We offer a very popular social media promotion service in the "Extras" section of the booking page. Be sure to check that out as it is great value and an excellent promotion tool.

When you should be there

• Saturday + Sunday - any time from 8.00am (please don't be early as we arrive on the dot of 8.30am), ready for a 10am start.
• When you arrive in the morning, come to the Flinders Street Market counter in the front to be assigned a spot.
• Pack up from 3.00pm. Please don't pack up early as it affects the stalls around you.
• Toilets are for stall holders only and are at the back of the shed.
• Please take your own rubbish with you. The bins at the market are for customers only.
CAR PARKING: There is $2 in the street until 12pm on Saturday then after that it is FREE. Sunday is all day FREE parking. Please remember to park a couple of blocks away from the front of the market, so that customers have spots to park in. You can also park at the Wilsons Carpark 1 block away off of Frome Street.
• If you are lucky enough to sell out of your product during the market day, please don’t pack up early. You are welcome to put up a sold-out sign and leave the market and come back at closing time to pack up your stall, but it is essential you leave the stall up during market hours.

STALL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Good signage about you and your product is essential. Are you handmade? Homegrown? Vintage? Organic? Tell us all about you.
• The stock for sale must be in saleable condition. It doesn't have to be new (vintage is most welcome), but it should be in clean, wearable or working condition.
• Stall holders must have current Market Stall Holders Insurance for the amount of $10M (ten million dollars). We recommend AAMI as the cheapest place to get temporary or permanent insurance.
• By booking and paying for a stall, you agree to Flinders Street Market using photos from your social media to promote your stall and the market.
• It is best to have a friend with you throughout the day, as you are responsible for supervising your stock and stand at all times.
• Flinders Street Market will not be held liable for loss, theft or damage to your stall contents at any stage.
• Clean up after yourself. Your area must be in the same state as you found it in the morning.
• If you are booked for both Saturday and Sunday, you may leave your set-up there overnight. Security will not be provided overnight for the venue, so do not leave valuables behind. Flinders Street Market is not responsible for any loss or damages.

Food Trucks

Our market is indoors and generally not suited for food trucks. However, food trucks that do not require generators can book for regular weekly markets.
If you would like to book a space for a food truck during a regular market weekend, you must first contact [email protected] prior to booking.
Make sure to visit the market before booking to see if your truck will fit through our entrance door.
*During our Street Food special events, we open up our outdoor section and all food trucks may book.
When coming for street food festivals, quiet generators are essential.
Please write if you are intending to use a generator in the "notes or instructions" box during checkout.
Street food stalls are welcome any week.

FOOD STALLS

The Health Inspector from the Adelaide City Council may conduct inspections at any time. Please make sure that you are up to date with food safety requirements. Contact your local council for more information.
• If you have booked power, please make sure that you have a 10amp power board/circuit breaker. Our power points support 10amp appliances. Please do not overload the power points or the fuse will trip and the whole market will be without power.
• All of your electrical cables must be tested and tagged or risk a fine. You could be inspected any time by Work Place Services.
• You are also required to have a fire blanket and fire extinguisher at your stall at all times.
• Remove slip and trip hazards in and around your stall.
• You are required to take away their own rubbish and greywater.
• Use mats on the floor to avoid/prevent grease stains.
• Leave your site in the same condition that you found it in.
• We also hope that you choose to use eco packaging with your food to help minimise your carbon footprint.

THE MOST SUCCESSFUL SELLERS HAVE:

• A big smile and friendly attitude
• Cool wares and quirky stuff
• Great packaging that is warm, friendly and informative
• An awesome and creative stall name with BOLD signage
• Attractive pictures of items on your social media (and our event)

• A-frame/Sandwich Board and signage at their stall telling people all about your product. You are welcome to put this out the front of the market to catch the attention of passersby.
• Display lots of great stuff in a fun and unusual way.
• Have a rug on the floor and some comfy seating for you to be more welcoming.
• Bring something to do to keep busy and have fun in the quiet moments.
